Community dermatology services

Date exercise ended - Sunday, July 12, 2015

These services are jointly commissioned with NHS South Sefton CCG and operate from a number of different venues across the borough.

Community dermatology services diagnose and treat patients for an extensive range of skin conditions. People are generally referred to the service by their doctor for things like severe eczema that can’t be treated by their practice. It also provides minor surgery for minor skin related problems.

Whilst people's views of using these services rated highly, the CCGs wanted to find out more of their experiences as part of a wider review. The results of this review were used to inform their re-procurement that was required due to the existing contract period coming to an end.

Commissioners regularly review service to make sure they constantly offer the highest standards of care and value for local people, and this is even more important when they carry out re-procurement exercises.

As well as inviting people to complete an online survey, the CCGs attended a number of community dermatology clinics to invite patients and carers to complete a questionnaire.
